Ingrown Hair

Ingrown hair is one of life’s frustrations; it can be painful and unsightly and in severe cases can cause scarring. At Health & Aesthetic Clinic we offer a highly effective treatment for both men and women.

Why do we get Ingrown Hair?

When the sharp tip of a hair curls back on it-self or grows sideways into the skin it gives Ingrown hair. It usually appears as a bump-pink or red in colour. It’s a very common in the bikini area in women, and beard and neck areas in men. Tight clothing can encourage and worsen ingrown hair due to friction. Ingrown hairs tend to occur more in women and men who shave regularly or use hair removal techniques such as waxing and epilating. It can also occur naturally.

Prevention and reduction of Ingrown Hair.

Regular exfoliation or medical microdermabrasion can help in reducing ingrown hair. Moisturisers and wearing loose clothing can also prevent any areas of ingrown hair getting worse.

 Treatments for Ingrown Hair.

Ingrown hairs can correct themselves but at times it can be difficult to get rid of them. Other treatments include use of some topical creams, antibiotics, chemical depilatories and laser hair removal. At Health & Aesthetic Clinic, we can help to overcome this irritating problem.
